Jubilee 2025
Pope Francis has voiced his desire for the year to foster a greater sense of global brotherhood and solidarity with the poor, as well as care for the environment by announcing the Jubilee Year in 2025 - 'Pilgrims of Hope'.
What is a Jubilee Year?
A Jubilee Year is a special year of forgiveness and reconciliation, in which people are invited to come back to a relationship with God, with one another and with all of creation.
How often is a Jubilee Year?
It is celebrated by the Church every 25 years. A Pope can also proclaim Extraordinary Jubilees, like the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy which started in 2015 and continued through 2016. A Jubilee Year is recognised throughout the world as a significant part of the history of our faith.
When does the Jubilee Year begin and end?
It began on 24th December 2024 and will conclude on 6th January 2026.
Jubilee at St Gerard's
We held our whole school launch day on Monday 27th January 2025. Throughout the first week, all classes took part in many different activities including pledge writing and understanding the logo. Children will participate in a range of activities throughout the academic year as set out in the Jubilee calendar.

Our fantastic Worship Warriors are busy with Jubilee preparations for the whole school. This has begun with planning and delivering Prayer & Liturgy to be shared with the whole school.
