Miss McCook

Welcome to Class 4!

We have got lots of exciting activities planned during the Summer term. Our topic, during Summer is ‘The Olympics’.

We will incorporate our topic into as many subject areas as possible. Below is a short overview of what will be taught in each subject during this half term.

  2024 Summer Olympics - Wikipedia

Geography

Children will be exploring the city of Paris, host city of the Olympics 2024.

They will discuss facts and features of the city, as well as comparing and contrasting Paris with other major cities.

English

During our English lessons, we will be focusing on the work of Shakespeare. Children will look at playscripts, characters and settings to help support them in building their own play script.

Maths

During our daily maths lessons, we will be focusing on multiplication and division, and fractions. Children will recall multiplication and division facts up to 12 x 12. They will multiply two digit and three digit numbers by a one digit number using the formal method.

While looking at shape, children will explore angles, triangles and quadriliaterals.

Science

In Science, we will be focusing on two topics, ‘Living things and their habitats’ and 'What do Scientists Do?’ Children will explore the role of a scientist through investigations and observations.
