Modern Foreign Language (MFL)
At St Gerard's we believe learning a new language can strengthen the experience and opportunities for our children. We teach children Spanish as part of their primary education, this includes learning the language and understanding all about Spanish culture.
Our aim is to see pupils leave our school in Year 6 with the ability to: understand and respond to spoken and written language; speak with increasing confidence, fluency and spontaneity; write at varying length; and to discover and develop an appreciation of a range of writing in Spanish.
Senorita Ana Garciavisits us once a week to teach across the school and run extra curricular activities and we have close links with the Primary Languages Network group.
We have close links with a school in Tenerife.
In February 2020 21 students visited our link school in Tenerife! What a fantastic experience for our children!
