Nursery 2016 - 2017

Mrs Strogen

Welcome to our Nursery Page.

Our Nursery teacher is Mrs Strogen and is supported by Mrs Nicholls .

This half term our topic will be ‘People who help us’. Within this topic we will be exploring different jobs and how they help us. We will be visiting ‘Frankie and Benny’s ’looking at the different jobs they do from chefs and waiters/waitresses. Whilst we are there we will learn how they look after us when we go out for a meal. We will also be visiting ‘Pets at home’ meeting people who show us how to take care of our pets.

Our role play will be transformed into a fire station, providing opportunities for the children to take on the role of a fire officer, writing and language development.

We will be reading a range of stories from Fireman Sam, Officer Ted, Mrs Wobble the Waitress and Postman Bear. This allows the children to retell the stories, act them out and develop new vocabulary.

In maths, we will be focusing on Number recognition and counting. We will also be investigating shapes in the environment and learning to describe the shapes.

In PE we will be focusing on developing our gross motor skills and using equipment safely.

We will bake every week developing our fine motor skills using rolling pins and cutters.

The children will be accessing the outdoor environment in all weathers so they need to come to Nursery with the appropriate outdoor clothing and sun cream.
