Week 1: Working at Home - Reception - March 2020

Week 1: Working at Home

Today marks the first week we have been 'remote learning' due to the COVID-19 outbreak. During this week we have been adjusting to learning away from the classroom and in our home environments. It has been fantastic to see so much work being completed - in both a formal and non-formal way. As the weather is beautiful please take this opportunity to work outside in the garden and look for fun activities to keep the children engaged. 

 

Personal, Social and Emotional Development:

This week the children have been making videos for their friends in order to see if they are safe. Parents and carers recorded messages and sent them in via ClassDojo - please click on the videos below to see them:

 

Mathematics:

It has been great to see children creating their own shape pictures and even making their own salt-dough shapes at home. If you haven't already been on a shape hunt around your house why not use this resource from Twinkl to record your findings: 2D Shape Hunt

In addition, it has been great to see the number of minutes on RM EasiMaths toting up. If you have not got your login details please let me know and I'll get them re-issued for you. It is really easy to log in and it will create lots of maths problems to keep the children engaged. 

 

 

 

 

 

Expressive Arts & Design:

The rainbows have most certainly brightened the news feed on ClassDojo and the School Twitter page alike. It is lovely to see the children being creative at home and making their own artwork - look at their fantastic pictures.

 

Understanding the World:

During computer time at home, and with supervision by a parent/carer, we have encouraged the chidlren to consoltate their understanding of shape and pattern using the following game: Shape Patterns
